Dynamics Tutorial Result

Dynamics Tutorial

Using Maya Help, I finished a tutorial that introduced me to the basic dynamics in Maya 2010. I thoroughly enjoyed learning how to manipulate particles and assign them to various shapes and spaces. I think that to further my dynamics experience I will find another tutorial or experiment on my own.

Subdivision Surfaces Product

Subdivision Modeling Project

To get used to modeling with subdivision surfaces, I went through a tutorial in Maya help that had me sculpt a hand. I was quite pleased with the process of this project since I was previously limited to NURBS sculpting and polygonal sculpting separately. However, although it had the softness of NURBS with the isolating qualities of polygons, the technique did not satisfy my perfectionist side, and the final product was not the quality I wanted. I will have to work further with subdivision surfaces before I am ready to utilize them in a project.

Polygonal Modeling Result

Polygonal Modeling Tutorial

I just finished a tutorial working on modeling a helmet with polygons from Maya help. A lot of the concepts were on isolating polygonal attributes (edges, faces, verteces) and editing the overall shape using move, scale, and rotate. The hardest part for me was probably editing the proxy helmet and managing all the viewing techniques, not to mention bridging faces and using n-gons. But afterwards I realized that I learned problem solving because Maya help didn't always have the exact windows and buttons and where they were, which moved me to sniff around for the solution.

In this blog I will be presenting, commenting on, and outlining the projects that my teacher has assigned to me throughout the school year. I will be posting photos and the occasional video that illustrates what exactly I have achieved at the various levels and what problems I have encountered.
